Can you help me determine what this poem means?

I know that in Lord of the Flies the flies represent evil and death around the hogs head...it could mean the same thing here but I'm not sure. The lady is dying and people are grieving around her but she has let go of the possibility of living and is ready to die. She can not hear anything except the fly and she dies. At first I thought it had something to do with the fact that flies feast on carc but i do not think thats what this poem is about.
