What would be acceptable battery amperage drain on a battery from starting a 4.2 liter v-6 engine??

a typical range would be 60 to 80 amps. but this all depends on the type of starter (gear reduction vs direct drive). automatic or manual transmission (flywheel differ in number of teeth changes starter to flywheel gear ratio). quality of battery and condition / quality of battery cables. condition of engine itself and lubrication.
